Why Lancaster Law?

ALWAYS OFFERING SOLUTIONS THAT LAST

Lancaster Law is motivated & determined to provide clients the best experience.

Lancaster Law, LLC was founded in 2024 by Principal Mark A. Lancaster, Esq. to help and support the efforts of those who advocate for and enable other advocates.  Mark's professional background includes extensive experience providing real-time legal counsel to companies and organizations nationally and internationally and as a civil litigator, and as a civil rights advocate.  All of which he faithfully brings to bear today for each of his clients.

Mark is General Counsel of Grassroots Analytics, Inc., a progressive technology company in Washington, DC.  He has direct experience advising federal, state, local candidates, campaigns, and state parties on state and federal campaign finance and election laws.  He also advised non-profit organizations on formation, corporate governance issues, securing and maintaining tax-exempt status as either a 501(c)(3) or a 501 (c)(4) from his time as an Associate with Sandler Reiff, a boutique political law firm in Washington, DC.  He continues to provide legal advice on a range of day-to-day personnel matters, such as employment agreements and policies, and counsels clients on harassment, disciplinary actions, labor management relations, workplace investigations, wrongful terminations, and employment discrimination issues.

Mark's professional trajectory is deeply intertwined with his personal dedication to his family.  Despite facing the challenges posed in his childhood by his mother's mental health issues, Mark navigated a complex family situation with resilience, successfully guiding his five younger siblings to stability and achievement in diverse professional fields.  This poignant personal journey has fueled Mark's unwavering commitment to advocating for underrepresented and underserved Marylanders throughout his career.  His passion lies in bringing opportunities to all Marylanders and DC residents, regardless of the challenges they and their families may face.  Mark also served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in Baltimore County, Maryland, where he volunteered to work in conjunction with child protective services and the juvenile justice system to meet the needs of abused and neglected children for safety and for suitable, permanent homes.

Mark's professional expertise is marked by extensive experience providing real-time advice to both for-profit and nonprofit organizations on a national and international scale.  The foundation of Mark's career as a civil litigator was laid when he served as a law clerk for the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia - National Security Section (NSS), where he investigated and prosecuted felonious criminal activity that threatens our nation's security, and for the Environmental Protection Agency's law enforcement arm, the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance (OECA), where he went after pollution problems that impact American communities through vigorous civil and criminal enforcement, concentrating on enforcement and compliance matters.  He began his employment and corporate law career as a law clerk in the Office of General Counsel for the University of Maryland Medical System,  a private, not-for-profit corporation founded in 1984 and based in Baltimore, Maryland, which owns and operates 13 hospitals in Maryland, and has more than 2,500 licensed beds, 122,300 annual admissions, and gross patient revenues of $4.4 billion annually.

What sets Mark apart extends beyond his professional achievements; it lies in his passion for overcoming challenges and dedication to his home state.  Very proudly hailing from Maryland, Mark actively engages in community service as the President for the Maryland Coalition of Families, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Columbia, Maryland, dedicated to caring for loved ones with behavioral health needs and advocating for the systems designed to support them.

Mark's educational background comprises a Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law (2013); and a B.S. from Morgan State University's Honors Program (2009).

Mark is licensed to practice law in Maryland (2013) and the District of Columbia (2019) and before the United States District Court of Maryland (2021) and United States District Court of the District of Columbia (2021).
